What is the City’s current property tax rate? Who collects the City’s taxes?
The total tax rate is $.467344 per $100 of valuation; $.19878 is for debt payments and the remaining $.268564 is for operations and maintenance in the General Fund. The Comal County Tax Assessor/Collector collects the City’s ad valorem property taxes.

What is the hotel/motel tax rate?
The total rate in the City of New Braunfels is 13 percent with 7 percent going to the City of New Braunfels and 6 percent going to the State of Texas.

How does the City use the hotel/motel tax revenue?
Currently, the hotel/motel tax revenue is used for three distinct purposes. 14.3 percent funds arts and cultural activities provided by various organizations. 50 percent is provided to the Greater New Braunfels Chamber of Commerce to increase through promotion the City’s tourism and convention businesses. The remaining 35.7 percent funds the expansion and renovation of the City’s convention/civic center currently underway.

What is the City’s sales tax rate? How is it used?
The total sales tax rate in the City of New Braunfels is 8.25 percent with 1.5 percent going to the City of New Braunfels. This amount is split with 1.125 percent (1 and 1/8 cent) going to the City’s General Fund and .375 percent (3/8 cent) going to the New Braunfels Industrial Development Corporation to fund economic development activities.
